A 30-Minute Morning Routine for a Productive and Mindful Day
Stop hitting that snooze button, and spend 30 minutes with this morning routine to kickstart your day and to keep you focused on the things that matter.
TIP: Turn off the snooze function option on your phone when setting your alarm. Don't give yourself the option to snooze!
Remember to choose and create a morning routine that works best for you and your lifestyle. It will take take, and trial and error before you find a routine that works for you.
Open the windows, and get natural light and air in (20 seconds)
Getting light and fresh air in the morning will help your body wake up more naturally.
Take a deep breath in this moment, and remind yourself of the beauty of being able to wake up to live another day.
Sometimes its in the ordinary moments that can bring us the most joy when we take the time to appreciate it.
Drink Lemon Water (1 minute)
If you read our last blog, you already know this is one of those healthy habits we want you to get into!
CLICK HERE to check out our blog on 5 Healthy Habits for a Happier Life. We suggest drinking at least a cup of water in the morning to rehydrate your body.
Make Your Bed (1 minute)
Completing small tasks early in the day can help us build momentum to complete other tasks for the day. It is also a wonderful feeling to come home to an already made bed.
Stretch (5 minutes)
Get your body moving with a 2-5 minutes stretch.
These are two of our favourite videos (check them out, or find your own)
Washroom Duties (5-10 minutes)
This time is for you to do everything you need to in the washroom. From brushing your teeth, skin care routine, taking your supplements/medications, etc.
Breakfast (10 minutes)
We know how little time you might have in the morning, and that is why we like to have a breakfast thats quick and easy, or prepared the night before.
- Overnight oats - Check out this popular recipe from Brittany Mullins from Eating Bird Food by clicking HERE.
- Microwave eggs (yes.. we can be this lazy sometimes..) with toast (we like the low-carb Carbonaut bread), leafy greens, and avocado
- Add a small bowl/cup of water to the microwave
- Crack 1-2 eggs in a separate bowl (Keep it as is, or whisk it up)
-
Microwave at 30-60 second intervals until its cooked to your preference. This may take longer or shorter depending on your microwave.
- Boiled eggs with a side of greek yogurt and fruit
TIP:You can cook a batch of boiled eggs in the beginning of the week, and it will stay fresh for 7 days in the refrigerator
- Protein Smoothie or a Meal Replacement shake
There are days you don’t have anything prepared and its okay to have a meal replacement (such as Premier Protein Meal Replacement Shake) in your cupboard as a back up.
Remember, its not about being perfect but finding a routine that is adaptable to your lifestyle.
Journaling (5 minutes)
We absolutely LOVE journaling and here are our prompts for you.
What are your intentions/affirmations for the day?
What are three things you are grateful for?
What are your top three action items today?
Brain dump (We love to create space in our morning to pour out our thoughts/feelings) LET IT ALL OUT, so you can start your day with a clear mind.
